芭貝．柯爾出生於英國英吉利海峽附近的小島上，自從1973年畢業於藝術學院後，即從事創作與寫作的工作。
芭貝天生是個說故事高手，喜歡用自己獨特的聲音和風格大聲的說故事，讓小朋友聽了，還想再聽十遍，甚至一百遍……
芭貝的性格開朗、幽默，而且充滿活力，她將自己的性格充分發揮在創作裡，因此，她筆下的主角也都洋溢著童心、勇敢與生命力，讀者在閱讀她的圖畫書時，很容易就被她幽默的字句、鮮明的用色與精心設計的小細節所吸引，深刻感受到無限的創作魅力，心情也會跟著愉快。
芭貝希望終生都能創作童書，透過嚴謹用心的工作態度，不斷的創造出以笑聲美化生活，以熱情溫暖人生的作品。
